MovieMail was started by Carol Hunter in 1996. Carol was never a film intellectual, just someone who really loved movies and noticed that most of her favorites they?re not easy to get on video and many of them they?re not made in the English Language. MovieMail's first order was received on July 7 1996 (for Route de Corinthe, The Tin Drum and Le Boucher). At that time Carol lived on the Scottish Hebridean Island of Islay - not the best choice for fast delivery. MovieMail had an e-commerce web site within 3 months of its start up. The site has expanded with the business. It's their eighteenth anniversary but the idea stays the same - to share interesting films and to celebrate one of the world?s great communal art forms. Hundreds of DVDs and Blu-rays are released every month; they select the best and most worthwhile and let you know about them - on their website, in their monthly film catalogue, in email newsletters and in the podcast. They believe in looking beyond profit margins to the bigger picture, putting a high value on the happiness of their staff and minimizing their environment impact. MovieMail is a trading name of Simply Media.
